Multitouch experience
Up to four students can simultaneously write, perform mouse functions, erase, and manipulate and move objects on the interactive whiteboard surface – and no special tools are required.
Freestyle interaction*
The system enables four students to instantly start working together without having to switch to a multiuser mode or work in confined areas. And they can individually complete actions, like writing in digital ink or moving objects with their fingers.
Object awareness
The 885ix recognizes when you switch between using a finger, pen and eraser. You can also write with a pen, erase with a palm and move objects with a finger, without having to press buttons, access on-screen menus or replace tools in the Pen Tray.
Touch gestures
Two students working together can each use their palm for erasing and one or two fingers to perform gestures on objects, such as toss, zoom or rotate, and to interact within SMART Notebook collaborative learning software. The 885ix has built-in support for multitouch operating systems, like Microsoft Windows 7 and Mac Snow Leopard.
SMART Notebook software included
SMART Notebook sets the standard for creating, delivering and managing interactive lessons within a single application. It puts all your instructional materials at your fingertips, and allows you to save any notes or content you write during the lesson to share with students later on. A powerful and easy-to-use application, SMART Notebook software enables you to readily deliver interactive lessons that keep your students engaged and interested.
Multiuser Pen Tray
Pick up one of the pens or the eraser and the Pen Tray automatically detects which tool you’ve selected. Buttons on the Pen Tray select the color and activate the On-Screen Keyboard, right-click and help functions.
Modular design
The Pen Tray includes two wings on the side that allow you to add accessories, such as SMART projector controls.
Lockable pen option
Hold down a pen color button on the Pen Tray until the light flashes, and the lockable pen option will lock the interactive whiteboard into pen mode, so you can use any device and it will act as a pen. Early education students and students with special needs can use objects like a tennis ball to write on the surface.
SMART Ink
Discover a responsive and accurate writing experience with SMART Ink. It smoothes out the appearance of the digital ink, which improves the legibility of your handwriting as you write over applications, websites and videos. The ink becomes an object that you can move and manipulate.
Save function
Capture your work to SMART Notebook software as a screen shot that you can edit, or save your notes directly into several software applications, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat and AutoCAD software.
Durable surface
The 885ix has a low-gloss surface that is optimized for projection. The surface is compatible with dry-erase markers and is easily cleaned.
Quick start
With the 885ix, your computer, projector and SMART Board interactive whiteboard are all connected, so you can turn the entire system on quickly with the push of a single button – everything powers up in 60 seconds.
Front-of-room centralized control
Switch between all your audiovisual devices directly from the extended control panel. The panel provides centralized control of your classroom technology, including DVD players, digital cameras and document cameras. You can move from a website to a video documentary to a review question quickly and seamlessly. The extended control panel also has a dual-USB port that enables you to connect two computers to the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and easily switch between them as required.
Widescreen interactive whiteboard
Access 20% more workspace than a standard interactive whiteboard system. Ideal for classrooms using widescreen laptops and monitors, the 885ix system has an 87" (221 cm) interactive whiteboard and an ultra-short-throw projector that offers a 16:10 aspect ratio and native WXGA (1,280 x 800) widescreen resolution. You can attach a high-definition camcorder, Blu-ray Disc player or widescreen laptop to the extended control panel to give your students a true-to-life multimedia experience, without the distractions of letterboxing or distortion.
Virtually shadow and glare free
Compared to longer throw projectors that are mounted on ceilings or walls, the 885ix system's ultra-short-throw projector creates virtually no shadows or glare. This makes it easier for students to see images on the interactive whiteboard, and increases classroom productivity by reducing distractions.
Superior image quality
The SMART UX60 projector uses BrilliantColor technology by Texas Instruments to produce high levels of brightness and contrast. Video, data and lesson files will look crisp and bright from every position in the room.
Simple installation
Make precise projector alignment a snap – the 885ix includes a multiaxis, adjustable wall mount. The projector is mounted directly above the interactive whiteboard, so virtually any classroom can accommodate the 885ix without needing complicated wiring or ceiling mounting.
Filter free
The filter-free design of the SMART UX60 projector eliminates the need for filter cleaning or replacement.
No color decay
Rely on the color quality of the SMART UX60. The projector’s DLP engine with BrilliantColor technology makes the 885ix practically immune to color decay, producing a vibrant image, even after years of use.
Network-enabled projector
Connect the SMART UX60 projector to your school's IP network to send and receive commands to and from the web server or SNMP client. As a networked interactive whiteboard system, the 885ix has asset management features that enable you to control and manage the projector remotely.
Long-lasting lamp
Be confident in the reliability of your projector lamp – the SMART UX60 lasts for 3,000 hours in standard mode and 4,000 hours in economy mode.
Option to add sound
Theft resistant
Feel secure with your technology investment – the protection features of the 885ix make it a less attractive target for thieves. The projector head, boom and base are all attached, and because the SMART UX60 projector has no buttons, it is rendered inoperable if removed from the extended control panel. The Kensington cable lock slot and padlock loop are additional visual and physical theft deterrents.
