SMART’s award-winning software compatible with latest Windows upgrade
CALGARY, Alberta --- February 19, 2007 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces support for Windows Vista™, Microsoft’s latest operating system, in SMART Board™ software 9.5. As with earlier Windows® operating systems, Vista provides SMART Board interactive whiteboard users with a familiar interface, and with Vista’s new support of East Asian languages, SMART customers can now use handwriting recognition for Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Version 9.5 also supports earlier versions of Windows such as XP and 2000 as well as Mac OS and Linux® operating systems.
SMART Board software remains the world’s most widely used interactive whiteboard software. It is integral to every SMART Board interactive whiteboard, Sympodium™ interactive pen display and AirLiner™ wireless slate, and makes creating, managing and using digital content easier for those using Windows, Mac or Linux operating systems. Notebook™ collaborative learning software is the whiteboarding application within SMART Board software 9.5, and it is the digital content hub. It features ample whiteboarding space where users can write notes in digital ink and create, interact with and save digital content from a variety of sources. Version 9.5 now offers Windows users 36 languages, the latest being Hebrew, Hindi, Polish, Greek and Scottish Gaelic.
“SMART has supported the Windows platform for many years,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s CEO. “All SMART customers upgrading to Windows Vista can do so knowing it will work seamlessly with their SMART products.”
