
Alberta Teaching Awards winners announced
CALGARY, Alberta --- May 12, 2007 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces that three teachers were recognized for excellence at the Alberta Teaching Awards in a ceremony in Edmonton this evening. The three winners for the 2006/2007 school year were Alison Hancox, a fourth-grade teacher at Argryll Centre in Edmonton, Pete Mackay, grade a teacher at Jasper Place High School in Edmonton and Pierre Veilleux, a fifth- and sixth-grade French immersion teacher of grades 10, 11 and 12 at Varsity Acres School in Calgary. Judges of the award examine the creative and innovative ways in which teachers are engaging their students. The three teachers each received a technology package for their classroom, consisting of a SMART Board™ 680i interactive whiteboard system with built-in Unifi™ projector and integrated audio system, an AirLiner™ wireless slate, an unlimited school site license for SMART Ideas™ concept-mapping software, a computer lab license for SynchronEyes™ classroom management software and a two-year, five-user subscription for Bridgit™ conferencing software.
