SMART wins again at Education Software Review Awards

Fourth consecutive year SMART software is recognized as valuable teaching tool

CALGARY, ALBERTA --- November 15, 2007 --- SMART Technologies announces that two of its software titles have been honored at the 12th Annual Education Software Review Awards (EDDIES). The EDDIES are awarded annually by ComputED Gazette. SMART Board™ software won in the Teacher Tools: Productivity category and SMART Ideas™ concept-mapping software won in the Multilevel: Thinking Skills category. This is the fourth consecutive year that SMART has won EDDIE awards.

The EDDIE awards recognize innovative and content-rich software from software publishers worldwide that provide parents and teachers alike with technology to foster educational excellence. The judging process is based on academic content, potential for broad classroom use, technical merit, subject approach and management system. In the 2004 and 2005 EDDIE awards, SMART won for SynchronEyes™ classroom management software and SMART Ideas concept-mapping software. In 2006, SMART won for Bridgit™ conferencing software, as well as for SMART Ideas and SynchronEyes software.

“The EDDIES recognize the best software solutions available to educators,” said Marie A. Karr, ComputED’s editor. “Winners contribute to learning environments in a way that maximizes student engagement and participation.”

“Software products play an important role in enhancing the teaching and learning process,” said Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s CEO. “These two most recent awards confirm SMART’s long-standing reputation and commitment to providing products that aid student achievement.”
