Allan Mowbray brings diverse and extensive experience to SMART’s finance team
CALGARY, Alberta --- May 29, 2008 --- SMART Technologies announces the appointment of Allan Mowbray to the position of corporate controller. In this key role within the finance department, Mowbray will direct all global accounting functions at SMART, including financial reporting and taxation. He will report to Susan Ruf, SMART’s senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer.
An accomplished business professional, Mowbray has accumulated more than 19 years of experience in large organizations across a variety of sectors, ranging from communications to energy and resources. He comes to SMART from a multinational energy company where he was corporate controller responsible for financial reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance. Mowbray has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta since 1989 and holds a bachelor of commerce degree. He joins the company during a period of significant growth. SMART’s operations have increased in scale and become more multinational, and Mowbray’s financial, reporting and compliance expertise matches well with the company’s evolving needs.
“It is an exciting time to join SMART as the markets for its solutions continue to grow dramatically,” says Mowbray. “I look forward to helping build the infrastructure in finance to assist the company as it continues to expand globally.”
“SMART remains committed to building infrastructure and ensuring that we have the skills that will support our growth,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s CEO. “Allan’s experience in large public companies will be a great asset to SMART and will support our global operations as we continue to expand.”
