SMART expands reseller network with addition of largest U.S. pre-K content distributor

Hatch Early Childhood Learning becomes authorized reseller

CALGARY, Alberta---May 27, 2008--- SMART Technologies announces the expansion of its authorized reseller and content contributor network to include Hatch® Early Childhood Learning, the leading provider of education materials for the pre-K market in the United States. Hatch has begun developing digital resources compatible with Notebook™ collaborative learning software, and now, through its relationship with SMART, will sell SMART’s interactive learning products across the United States. As a SMART reseller, Hatch will offer a variety of SMART products, including the Unifi™ 45 projector and the SMART Board™ 680i2 interactive whiteboard system, which ships with Notebook software.

The addition of Hatch to its reseller network is one of the many ways SMART is meeting demand for digital resources and interactive whiteboards that engage children of all ages. Hatch is developing more than 500 lesson activities and classroom tools based on Notebook software that incorporate shape, letter and pattern recognition, cognitive development and teacher classroom management programs. SMART products and Hatch’s content, make up the TeachSmart Learning System that Hatch developed to address the special education needs of early learners by being purposeful and playful, while allowing teachers to easily plan and manage the classroom. Hatch’s president, Ginny Norton, says Hatch is interested in pursuing a relationship with SMART because of SMART’s outstanding reputation as the global education market segment leader in interactive whiteboards.

“As a leader in integrating computer learning centers into early childhood classrooms nationwide, Hatch is excited to become SMART Technologies’ largest pre-K reseller of its award-winning family of SMART Board interactive whiteboards and other products and resources,” says Ginny Norton, Hatch’s president. “SMART products, along with age-specific resources, will provide intuitive and powerful classroom tools for early-childhood teachers and enhance self-directed learning environments for children.”

“Educators around the world recognize that using interactive technology in the classroom produces one of the most effective learning experiences available,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s CEO. “Appointing Hatch Early Childhood Learning as a specialty reseller of SMART’s interactive education products is an important step toward enhancing the learning experiences for pre-k learners and preparing them for their future schooling.”
