New version of popular software helps students create, share and manage files
CALGARY, Alberta --- October 20, 2008 --- SMART Technologies announces the student edition of SMART Notebook, the award-winning collaborative learning software used with all SMART Board™ interactive whiteboards and displays, Senteo™ interactive response systems, Sympodium™ interactive pen displays and AirLiner™ wireless slates. SMART Notebook SE gives technologically literate, 21st-century students a learning tool that capitalizes on their sophisticated technology use, reflecting the way today’s students think and organize ideas. The student software is compatible with SMART Notebook software, which many K–12 teachers use as their primary lesson delivery application. SMART Notebook SE is the first program to allow students to create, share, organize and store digital files just like their teachers. Students can also use the software’s scheduling and organizing features to keep track of homework assignments and due dates, take notes and highlight important concepts. As a flexible learning tool that supports individual, small group and whole-class learning, SMART Notebook SE helps students create, deliver and manage interactive lessons and resources. The application runs on student desktops, laptops, ultra-mobile PCs, PDAs and tablets.
SMART Notebook SE has a simple interface and offers features designed specifically for students. The easy-to-use My Binder feature helps students organize assignments, lessons and information files from all classes, and can be accessed quickly in a variety of ways. For instance, Web 2.0 tag clouds can be used to locate assignments and files quickly with key words. The My Home feature allows students to personalize and customize the software by adding photos, images, links and Adobe® Flash® files. Each student’s personalized version of the software can also be saved to a network drive. The software is now being beta tested by 25,000 students worldwide, making it one of SMART’s largest user tests to date. The beta runs until the end of February 2009 and the test version is available for download here. SMART Notebook SE will be available in 16 languages.

The suggested education price for SMART Notebook SE is US$34.99 per student. The price in international markets is dependent on applicable taxes, duties and importation costs.
