Teachers save up to 14 minutes in a 50-minute class with classroom management software
CALGARY, Alberta --- December 10, 2008 --- SMART Technologies announces the release of the special report “More Time to Learn: Boost teacher productivity and free up learning time with SynchronEyes classroom management software.” The report presents the results of a recent SMART survey indicating that teachers save an average of 14 minutes per 50-minute computer class, or 28 percent of class time, with SynchronEyes™ classroom management software. Automating many time-consuming administrative tasks, the software saves approximately seven hours of teaching time per term, which leaves more time to spend with students. The survey was conducted in October 2008, with 348 SynchronEyes software users participating from across North America.
The survey found most time savings result from several automation features in the software. On average, participating educators reported spending 85 percent less time launching applications on every computer, 82 percent less time getting students to type the correct URLs into their Internet browsers and 72 percent less time walking around the classroom ensuring students stay on task. The report also indicates that teachers spend 80 percent less time sending files to students and 76 percent less time receiving homework assignments from students. At the end of classes, teachers reported spending 84 percent less time logging off and shutting down students’ computers. The survey results are considered statistically significant, with a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percent. The full, 16-page report can be accessed here.
“SMART products are designed to optimize teaching time, quality of lessons and learning outcomes,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s CEO. “The results outlined in this special report show that SynchronEyes classroom management software helps educators optimize classroom time and keep students on track.”
