Aegom Interactive’s math title developed specifically for use in SMART Notebook software
CALGARY, Alberta --- November 12, 2008 --- SMART Technologies announces Aegom Interactive is the first company to receive the Select designation in the SMART Software Accreditation Program (SAP), making Aegom the first to create commercially available content specifically for SMART Notebook software. In September this year Aegom released “Middle School Math for SMART Notebook.” The title was created to take advantage of the many new features of SMART Notebook software 10, one of the most widely used lesson delivery applications in the world. The growing popularity of SMART Notebook software has led content developers like Aegom Interactive to provide multimedia content and applications designed specifically for the application. SMART Notebook software is the lesson delivery application used on SMART Board™ interactive whiteboards and displays, Senteo™ interactive response systems, Sympodium™ interactive pen displays and AirLiner™ wireless slates.
In addition to its first Select member, SMART’s SAP has reached the milestone of 300 accredited titles, adding to the wealth of multimedia content and software resources teachers can use with SMART products to enhance classroom instruction. Content developers choose to participate in SMART’s SAP because accreditation gives educators the confidence of knowing which software works best with their SMART products. There are three accreditation levels in the program – Ready, Enabled and Select. Each one indicates the level to which the content or software has been enhanced or customized for use with SMART Notebook software. Aegom is currently developing more titles for the Select designation.
“The new features in SMART Notebook 10 really expanded the possibilities for our content development team,” said Steve Cox, Aegom Interactive’s managing director. “Educators love the fact that our lessons install directly within the Notebook Gallery where they are organized by grade level and subject. It makes the lesson activities tremendously useful and accessible.”
“SMART is a global leader in providing interactive technologies, and many content companies see the benefits of producing titles that are compatible with our hardware and software products,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s CEO. “Reaching the mark of 300 SAP titles, and the addition of Aegom as the first Select member, demonstrate the caliber and quantity of companies interested in providing content for SMART products.”
About the SMART Software Accreditation Program
The SMART Software Accreditation Program offers educators a wealth of multimedia content and software resources to enhance instruction in the classroom. SMART has accredited over 86 companies representing more than 300 titles in subject areas including math, science, technology, English, social studies, history, health, language arts, art and design, foreign languages and music.
The SMART SAP has three accreditation levels designated as Ready, Enabled and Select. The accreditation designation indicates the level to which the content or software has been enhanced or customized for use on SMART Board interactive whiteboards and with SMART Notebook software. The Ready level is the basic accreditation level for an application or content product, indicating that SMART Technologies has approved the software title for use with SMART products. At the Enabled level, products meet the requirements of the Ready level and are integrated with SMART Board Tools. The integration provides more interactivity because it takes advantage of a digital ink feature called Ink Aware. At the Select level, products meet the requirements of the Enabled level and are specifically designed for use in SMART Notebook software.
