CALGARY, Alberta --- July 14, 2009 --- SMART Technologies announces that CEO and co-founder Nancy Knowlton has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Civil Law degree by Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Knowlton accepted the degree at a convocation ceremony held May 30, 2009. Doctor of Civil Law honorees are chosen by Bishop's University's Degree Committee of Convocation for their exceptional accomplishments in life and professional career. Right Honorable Paul Martin, 21st Prime Minister of Canada, Albert Shultz, founding artistic director of Soulpepper Theatre Company in Toronto, and Chantal Hèbert, Canadian columnist and political commentator, also received an honorary degree at the ceremony. In addition to managing a multimillion dollar business, Knowlton is globally recognized as an expert in education and classroom technology. Throughout her career, she has received several prestigious awards recognizing her abilities as an entrepreneur and business person. This is Knowlton’s second honorary degree.
