SMART has its best results ever in Best Educational Software Awards
CALGARY, Alberta --- April 29, 2009 --- SMART Technologies announces that three of its software titles have been honored at the 15th annual Best Educational Software (BESSIE) Awards. The BESSIEs are issued annually by ComputED Gazette. SMART Notebook 10 collaborative learning software won in the Teacher Tools: Lesson Design category, SMART Ideas™ 5.0 concept-mapping software won in the Multilevel: Thinking Skills category and SMART Sync 2009 classroom management software won in the Middle School: Computer Lab Management category. This is the third time SMART has won BESSIE awards. In 2004 and 2005, SMART won for SynchronEyes™ classroom management software and SMART Ideas concept-mapping software each year.
The BESSIE awards recognize innovative and content-rich applications from software publishers worldwide that provide parents and teachers alike with technology to foster educational excellence. The judging process is based on academic content, potential for broad classroom use, technical merit, subject approach and management systems. With its rich set of features and digital resources, SMART Notebook helps educators deliver high-impact lessons that bring learning to life and connects them to a full ecosystem of content, tools and support. SMART Ideas software enables users to visually represent links between ideas and can be used in learning activities such as brainstorming, outlining, organizing and analyzing. SMART Sync software allows users to effortlessly monitor computer activity, keeps students focused on learning and encourages student collaboration.
“SMART’s software products play an important role in providing total classroom solutions that enhance the teaching and learning process,” said Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s CEO. “Winning these three awards highlights SMART’s strength in providing software products that help make classroom lessons more engaging and effective.”
