Sympodium interactive pen display enhances value of educational technology
CALGARY, Alberta --- June 12, 2007 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces that Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) has a Sympodium™ interactive pen display in every classroom. Faculty at the college view technology as a necessity rather than a luxury, and they use classroom technology to enhance student learning outcomes. Instructional technology technicians at the college have worked on creating 180 classrooms and labs that have all of the latest education technology. Each of the 180 rooms is outfitted with a Sympodium interactive pen display, a projector and screen, a dedicated computer, a sound system, a document camera, a system control device and hook-ups for additional peripherals that may be brought in as needed.
The campus welcomes 5,000 to 6,000 students each semester, and during orientation tours, faculty have observed that prospective students are impressed by the technology available. Administrators believe the availability of technology is a compelling element for students choosing to enroll at CGTC. Campus staff have also conducted tours with educators from over 200 colleges, universities and K−12 institutions so these visiting educators might observe and learn how to set up and use technology products. The college technology department continues to look for ways to provide the best technology solutions and is currently evaluating new hardware and software, including SMART products, for the campus.
