New 4000i offers higher resolution
CALGARY, Alberta --- March 20, 2007 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces that the new, updated Rear Projection SMART Board™ 4000i interactive whiteboard is now shipping. Introduced in December 2006, the touch-sensitive display quickly captured the interest of corporate and military audiences. The 4000i offers high resolution and large screen size. Built as an all-in-one mobile multimedia cabinet, the interactive whiteboard features a 66" (168 cm) shadow-free screen, which is ideal for satellite imaging, research and design work, and high-resolution computer simulation training.
The new 4000i introduces several features, including a 3300-lumen SXGA+ DLP™ projector (1400x1050 resolution) with a short-throw lens and a contrast ratio of 2500:1. The projector sits in a newly designed, more spacious cabinet, allowing for storage of a DVD player, second computer or other peripherals. The 4000i also comes with new screen technology that delivers uniform, ultra-crisp visuals. Optical technology provides the screen with touch-sensitivity. Integrated projector controls, located at the front of the unit, make start-up and operation simple and convenient. Users can write in digital ink on the screen, without special tools or any reduction in image quality, and notes can be edited, saved, printed and posted online or e-mailed for future reference.

Features
Touch system – SMART-developed, multi-patented DViT™ (Digital Vision Touch) technology, uses cameras in the corners of the screen to identify contact. Users simply touch the screen to activate mouse functions or write in digital ink using a finger or pen tool.
Screen – New screen technology uniformly distributes brightness across the entire interactive whiteboard.
Image quality – Provides high image quality and resolution (1400x1050), a brighter display (3300 lumens) with a contrast ratio of 2500:1.
Cabinet space – A new, more spacious cabinet offers storage space for a DVD player, second computer or other peripherals.
Digital Video Input (DVI) projector port – A new internal DVI-D cable and connector ensure better image quality from your PC.
SMART Board software – Available for Windows® (including Windows Vista™), Mac OS and Linux® operating systems.
SMART Board software enables users to write over any computer application in digital ink, write and edit notes and save all work in a single file.
Rack-mount system – The system allows for the easy integration of other peripherals, including videoconferencing systems.
Audio system – The integrated audio system includes stereo-amplified speakers controlled from the front of the 4000i.
Connection panel – Peripherals, including another computer, an external audio system or a network printer, can be connected.
Laptop support – Shelf and connection cables attach to either side of the cabinet.
Wireless keyboard and holder – The Windows operating system keyboard with built-in trackball is included.
X-port™ 20 switch – The X-port 20 switch allows users to switch between an integrated computer (customer supplied) and a connected laptop (customer supplied).
