SMART wins EDDIE awards for fifth consecutive year

Education Software Review Awards recognizes SMART Notebook software and SMART Ideas software

CALGARY, Alberta --- November 06, 2008 --- SMART Technologies announces that two of its software titles have been honored at the 13th annual Education Software Review Awards (EDDIEs). The EDDIEs are issued annually by ComputED Gazette. SMART Notebook software version 10 won in the Teacher Tools: Productivity category and SMART Ideas™ concept-mapping software won in the Multilevel: Thinking Skills category. With its rich set of features and digital resources, SMART Notebook helps educators deliver high-impact lessons that bring learning to life and connects them to a full ecosystem of content, tools and support. SMART Ideas concept-mapping software enables users to visually represent links between ideas and can be used in learning activities such as brainstorming, outlining, organizing and analyzing. This is the fifth consecutive year that SMART has won EDDIE awards.

The EDDIE awards recognize innovative and content-rich applications from software publishers worldwide that provide parents and teachers alike with technology to foster educational excellence. The judging process is based on academic content, potential for broad classroom use, technical merit, subject approach and management system. In the 2004 and 2005 EDDIE awards SMART won for SynchronEyes™ classroom management software and SMART Ideas concept-mapping software. In 2006 SMART received EDDIE awards for Bridgit™ conferencing software, as well as for SMART Ideas and SynchronEyes software. In 2007 SMART won for SMART Notebook software and SMART Ideas concept-mapping software.

“SMART is committed to providing total classroom solutions that enhance the teaching and learning process,” said Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s CEO. “Winning these EDDIE awards highlights SMART’s strength in creating software products that positively impact classroom learning and support individual, small group and whole-class learning.”
