What is SMART Training Certification?
SMART Training Certification is designed for resellers or third-party trainers who provide in-depth training to customers on using SMART Board interactive whiteboards and SMART Notebook collaborative learning software. Participants will be certified to present 90-minute, half-day and full-day SMART training sessions.

Is there special pricing for educators?
No. Education customers wanting to certify three or more people can arrange for a SMART-employed trainer to deliver the SMART Training Certification session at their location. The price of the SMART Certification Training package is designed to be as cost-effective as possible.

What does the price include?
The price includes the following:
- Pre-certification self-study materials
- SMART Session Training Facilitator Guide and resources
- Certificate, letter of completion, logos and listing on the SMART website [link to Certified Trainers page]
- Expenses incurred by the SMART-employed trainer

How long is each session?
A typical day lasts from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a one-hour break for lunch and several breaks in the morning and in the afternoon.

How many participants will be involved?
Each SMART Training Certification session is designed to accommodate approximately 15 participants. SMART reserves the right to reschedule an event if fewer than 15 people register per session.

SMART Training Certification is for anyone who wants to present up to a full-day session on how to use SMART Board interactive whiteboards with SMART Notebook software.

What if I use a Macintosh computer?
SMART Training Certification is available for Macintosh computer users. Unless otherwise indicated, all events are delivered using the Microsoft Windows® operating system. You may attend a scheduled Macintosh based event or request Macintosh learning materials. Otherwise, you may speak to our training coordinators at 1.866.518.6791 option 6 to arrange for on-site SMART Training Certification delivered on the Macintosh operating system. Does SMART refer customers to SMART Certified Trainers?
Yes. SMART will refer customers to its website, which lists all SMART Certified Trainers.

Am I allowed to give certificates to people that I train?
Yes. You can create your own certificates stating that participants attended a SMART training session. If you choose to purchase production-quality SMART Board interactive whiteboard learner workbooks, you will also receive our completion certificates.

What is the time frame for taking the test on SMART's Learning Center?
Candidates are given four months from the time you complete the face to face training session.

What happens if I complete the test on SMART's Learning Space but don’t achieve the passing grade of 80%?
- You have one attempt to pass the assessment. Please review the instructions attached to the notification you recieved by e-mail.
- If you’re not successful after one attempt, an additional attempt can be purchased at a cost of $49 USD. Please visit smarttech.com/contacttraining for further assistance.

What kinds of questions are included in the test on SMART's Learning Center?
The test is comprised of a variety of questions based on methodology and content, including situational and concrete question types in a variety of formats (i.e. multiple choice, multiple answers, ordering, Yes/No, etc.).

How will I get feedback to improve my skills when I take SMART's Training Certification?
- The certification portion of the training includes time to practice your own delivery of the training, with specific feedback on how you can improve your skills
- The training specialist will use a rubric which outlines key performance parameters
- You’ll receive a feedback sheet indicating which parts of your presentation were effective and which need some work so you can better serve your audience

Am I allowed to attempt the test prior to attending SMART Training Certification?
No. All candidates must attend the entire SMART Training Certification prior to taking the test. A SMART Certified Trainer agreement will not be provided to those candidates who have not attended the live training.

Are there any maintenance requirements that I must meet after I’m certified?
Once you’re certified, you may be required to take an annual test through SMART’s Learning Center to maintain your certification. You may also be expected to attend online recertification for any minor software releases. If there are major software releases, we may ask you to attend an instructor-led recertification session.
Your other responsibilities will be covered in the SMART Certified Trainer agreement, which you’ll sign before being granted access to the resources you’ll need to effectively deliver training.

How does a SMART Certified Trainer obtain information and feedback to continue improving their skills and ensure they exceed the needs of their audience?
We highly recommend you collect feedback from all of your training sessions. This feedback can help you develop your skills and provide a better understanding of your audience's needs. A feedback form is included in the Learner Workbook.

Where will I get my materials and certificates?
You can print materials and certificates for your sessions from the trainer resource website or purchase production-quality Learner Workbooks from SMART. Once you’ve successfully completed the post-certification requirements, we’ll regularly provide you with updated materials.

How can I order a Private session or register for a SMART Training Certification event?
Register for one of the SMART Notebook software certification events online, through our SMART Learning Center. Please note that this event accepts credit card payment only.
To arrange a private training session, visit smarttech.com/contacttraining or call us at 1.866.518.6791 option 4. You can also order on-site training through the reseller who sold you your SMART product.

Is lunch provided?
Light refreshments will be available throughout the day, but no lunch is provided.

What time do I need to sign in?
The session starts at 9:00 a.m., so we ask that you arrive by 8:45 a.m. to check in. The session begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. In fairness to all attendees, anyone arriving after 9:30 a.m. will not be admitted to the session.

What if I don't show up?
No refund is available to participants who do not show up for their registered session and do not notify SMART in advance.
