Software developers invited to create collaborative learning applications for SMART Table™
CALGARY, Alberta --- January 21, 2010 --- SMART Technologies announces the SMART Multitouch Application Contest, an opportunity for commercial and academic software developers to create multitouch, multiuser applications for the SMART Table interactive learning center. The contest is open to entrants from the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, Australia, China, India, the United States and Canada. Entrants may submit an application in one of two categories – commercial or academic. One grand prize winner from each category will receive one SMART Table interactive learning center valued at US$6,499. Qualified winning applications from both categories will also be promoted on SMART’s website for one year. The SMART Multitouch Application Contest is now open, and all completed submissions must be received by 11:59 pm MDT on Thursday, July 1, 2010. Upon registration, contestants will be provided with the SMART Table software development kit and a library of video tutorials outlining best practices for development of multitouch collaborative learning applications. Entries must incorporate multitouch functionality and support two to six simultaneous users. The applications must provide educational value for learners aged 3 to 14 by encouraging group collaboration rather than competition. A two-minute video recording of the application in use must also be uploaded to YouTube™ as part of the submission. One grand prize winner from each of the commercial and academic categories will be selected by a panel of judges made up of SMART staff. Submissions will be considered for their range of multitouch and multiuser features, creativity and innovation. Winners and runners-up will be notified via email by Wednesday, September 1, 2010.
