New SMART Document Camera 330 is mixed reality ready

SMART Technologies announces the SMART Document Camera 330, the first document camera designed for education that is mixed reality ready. Mixed reality, a relatively new technology, enables the display of enriched 2D and 3D content using physical objects bearing digital markers that the SMART Document Camera 330 can read. For example, a document camera reading a flash card bearing a digital marker may show a 3D image of the earth’s layers. The SMART Document Camera displays mixed reality content onto a SMART Board™ interactive whiteboard. Users can then view and interact with the content, which may include graphics, text, video and audio. The document camera also integrates fully with SMART Notebook™ collaborative learning software. Without interrupting the flow of a lesson, teachers will be able to show enriched live images of 2D or 3D content, manipulate captured images from within their SMART Notebook lesson activity and then save images to SMART Notebook software’s Gallery for later use and review. Teachers and students can also use digital ink to write over images directly within a SMART Notebook page, keeping students engaged and focused on the content at hand. The SMART Document Camera 330 begins shipping globally at the end of June 2010.
