You can then:

  • silently install SynchronEyes software on a teacher’s computer

  • silently install SynchronEyes software on a student’s computer

  • silently install the SynchronEyes software Quiz Wizard

Note

  • Type commands exactly as they appear in the following procedures, including all spaces, slashes and punctuation.

  • Don’t attempt an MSI installation unless you’re familiar with the commands.

Silently Installing SynchronEyes Teacher-Station Software on a Teacher’s Computer

Install and start SynchronEyes software on the teacher’s computer before you install it on a student’s computer. When you first install SynchronEyes teacher-station software on a teacher’s computer, you define parameters that you will use when you install the software on a student’s computer.

To silently install SynchronEyes teacher-station software on a teacher’s computer

  1. Select Start > Run.

    The Run dialogue box appears.

  2. Type cmd and click OK.

    The C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe window appears.

  3. Type msiexec /i "path to the .msi file\SynchronEyes Teacher 7.0.msi" /qn and press ENTER.

    Note

The SynchronEyes Teacher 7.0.msi file is located in the CD’s TeacherSetup folder.

The installation takes several seconds. When the installation is complete, a SynchronEyes Teacher 7.0 icon appears on your desktop.

  4. Double-click the SynchronEyes Teacher 7.0 desktop icon.

The Teacher ID dialogue box appears.

  5. Type a unique teacher ID and then click OK.

The SynchronEyes Software Evaluation dialogue box opens.

  6. Click the Activate Licence button. Type your registration information in the required fields and then click Next.

    SynchronEyes software starts.

Important

Do not close SynchronEyes software on the teacher’s computer until you install the software on all student computers.

Silently Installing SynchronEyes Student-Station Software on a Student’s Computer

Important

Do not silently install SynchronEyes software on the first student computer.

Install the software from the CD on a student’s computer and select your installation settings. When you install SynchronEyes software on the first student’s computer, you create a SynchronEyesClient.ini file in the C:\Program Files\SynchronEyes Student folder. This file contains your customised installation settings. See the SynchronEyes Classroom Management Software Installation Guide (document 95093) for more information on installing SynchronEyes software on a student’s computer (not silently).

You can then silently install SynchronEyes student-station software on the other students’ computers, copy the SynchronEyesClient.ini file to the server and ensure that all student computers have the same installation settings.

To ensure that all student computers have the same installation settings

  1. Follow the installation steps described in the next procedure to upgrade SynchronEyes student-station software on one student’s computer.

  2. Copy the SynchronEyesClient.ini file from the C:\Program Files\SynchronEyes Student folder and then paste it in the StudentSetup folder on the server.

    Note

The StudentSetup folder contains the SynchronEyes Student 7.0.msi file.

  3. When you customise installation settings, you automatically save the settings to the SynchronEyesClient.ini file. Copy the .ini file to the StudentSetup folder on the server to save the updated installation settings for all student computers.

  4. When you don’t customise installation settings, copy the SynchronEyesClient.ini file to the StudentSetup folder on the server to save the installation settings from the previous installation for all student computers.

  5. When you customise installation settings but you don’t copy the SynchronEyesClient.ini file to the StudentSetup folder on the server, you save the default installation settings from the first computer for all student computers.

To silently install SynchronEyes student-station software on a student’s computer

  1. Select Start > Run.

    The Run dialogue box appears.

  2. Type cmd and click OK.

    The C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe window appears.

  3. Type msiexec /i "path to the msi file\SynchronEyes Student 7.0.msi" /qn and press ENTER.

The installation takes several seconds. When the installation is complete, the computer restarts.

Silently Installing the SynchronEyes Software Quiz Wizard

When you install SynchronEyes software on a teacher’s computer, you automatically install the Quiz Wizard. However, you can also install a stand-alone version of the Quiz Wizard on a separate computer.

To silently install the SynchronEyes software Quiz Wizard

  1. Select Start > Run.

    The Run dialogue box appears.

  2. Type cmd and click OK.

    The C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe window appears.

  3. Type "path to the .exe file/SynchronEyesQuizSetup.exe" /s /v/qn and press ENTER.

    Note

The SynchronEyesQuizSetup.exe file is in the top level of the CD Contents.

The installation takes several seconds. When the installation is complete, a Quiz Wizard icon appears on the desktop.
