SMART Board 600i interactive whiteboard systems and Unifi 35 projectors with firmware version 2.1 |
Issue
You’ve updated your SMART Board 600i interactive whiteboard system’s firmware to version 2.1 and connected it to a network following the instructions in document 124753. However, the firmware’s networking features, including e‑mail, Bridgit conferencing software and LinQ software, aren’t available.
Cause
Due to a technical issue with the Unifi 35 projector, the firmware’s networking features may not be available if you’ve connected the projector to a lower quality network hub using a Cat 5 cable longer than 3.3' (1.0 m).
Solution
Resolve the issue by doing one of the following:
-
Connect the Unifi 35 projector to a high quality switch using a Cat 5 cable shorter than 328.0' (100.0 m) in length.
-
Connect the Unifi 35 projector to a hub using a Cat 5 cable shorter than 3.3' (1.0 m) in length.
Background
Version 2.1 of the firmware introduces the following networking features to the SMART Board 600i interactive whiteboard system:
-
the ability to send Whiteboard (formerly ScratchPad interactive whiteboarding application) files in e‑mail messages
-
Bridgit conferencing software
-
LinQ software
-
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) support
Previous versions of the firmware didn’t include any networking features. Therefore, there was no need to connect the system to a network.
