Learning something new every day while connecting with people both inside and outside the company – that's what Pooja, a software developer in product development, finds rewarding about her career with SMART Technologies.
"What I do is develop installation packages and applications for our Mac customers," Pooja says. "With the help of our usability team, we conduct studies with our customers and then implement the feedback."
And when projects wrap and applications are released, hearing firsthand the impact her work is having on customers is something Pooja appreciates.
"I went to the Macworld conference and expo last year and I spoke to a lot of SMART customers. They were really happy with our work," she says. "We had a new software bundle release and it was a big success. A lot of people told me that the software was great. That feels good."
The importance of a team environment
Finding your work challenging and rewarding is one thing, but Pooja says it's important for her to be part of a collaborative environment, too.
"When I came to SMART, I thought that managers would be managers and developers would be developers. But you can go talk to anyone here," she says. "I was immediately impressed with the open-door policy of the organization and the team environment."
And that team environment is evident in Pooja's daily work. The Mac platform has unique challenges, and finding information often requires Pooja to turn to her peers for help.
"Every day is a learning experience. That's the most exciting aspect of my work," she says. "I interact with a lot of different teams at SMART to come up with different ideas and solutions. There's a lot of brainstorming that goes into that."
"Our team organizes events in the nearby park. There's a beautiful pond, so it's nice to go out and sit and talk."
For Pooja, those open lines of communication are just one more reason she finds fulfillment in her career at SMART.
