Meet Rebecca - Account Director, Sales

Being at the fore of innovation

Working in the ever changing technology industry is what Rebecca says makes her job exciting. But it’s selling a solution that is having a real world impact on the lives of millions that makes it fulfilling.

“Being the visionary that goes to Fortune 500 companies and says, ‘You need this. You don’t realize that you need this, but you do,’ is exciting,” Rebecca says. “But the great thing about Freestorm visual collaboration solutions is that we know that they have an impact. Our products help people collaborate better and be more efficient.”

And while bringing technology like the SMART Board® interactive whiteboard to people that haven’t had much experience with it has its own unique challenges, Rebecca says that’s part of the thrill of working for a company that’s at the fore of innovation.

“A lot of our customers are still using digital cameras to capture information on whiteboards – it’s an accepted way of working,” Rebecca says. “So when a customer says they want to standardize on the SMART Board in their company, it’s really satisfying. That’s the point when a new technology becomes the norm.”

Being an account director with SMART

As an account director, Rebecca makes the initial contacts and leads the direction of an account. That means making presentations to generate awareness about SMART solutions, which requires a well-organized team that has materials on hand. But it’s not as simple as putting the same ready-made package forward to each client.

“We have a really good way of presenting our materials to new customers, so that process becomes repeatable,” Rebecca says. “But every customer is different so you have to use your own intelligence to figure out how our products and features are going to benefit that customer. It’s discovering what a good fit is for that customer.”

Thinking on your feet, the excitement of working in a fast-paced field, the satisfaction of knowing your work is having an impact – it’s a rewarding experience. One that Rebecca says is enhanced by the people around her.

“I’m surrounded by intelligent people, which makes my job easier. We truly have a collaborative work environment where my colleagues help each other for the betterment of our team and SMART as a whole.”
