SMART product honored at prestigious peer-reviewed software and content awards
CALGARY, Alberta --- June 12, 2009 --- SMART Technologies announces that SMART Notebook collaborative learning software 10 has received a 2009 CODiE Award. SMART Notebook’s top honors in the Best Education Technology Solution for Productivity/Creativity category marks the first time SMART has won a CODiE. SMART Notebook 10 was judged on its suitability for students with diverse learning styles and abilities, effective use of technology, overall visual/program aesthetics, availability of information and support for users, and accessibility of feedback and support in the process of creating documents, designs or projects. With its rich set of features and numerous digital resources, judges noted that SMART Notebook comes with a full ecosystem of content, tools and support, and helps educators deliver high-impact lessons that bring learning to life. In addition to this award, SMART’s Bridgit™ 3.4 conferencing software was a 2009 finalist in the Best Collaboration Solution category and SynchronEyes™ 7.0 classroom management software (now called SMART Sync) was a 2009 finalist in the Best Education Technology Solution for Productivity/Creativity category.
This year marks the 24th year for the CODiE Awards, which hold the distinction of being the only peer-reviewed awards within the software and content industries. The annual awards are conferred by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). The CODiE Awards honor the software and content industry’s finest products and services, and showcase excellence in corporate achievement. This year, more than 850 CODiE nominations were submitted by 600 companies. Products go through two rounds of extensive judging. First-round judges include representatives from the software and content industry trade press, mainstream technology writers, analysts, consultants and subject-matter experts. The second round is a peer-review process in which SIIA member companies review the finalists and cast votes for winners in each category.
“The CODiE Awards continue to recognize those companies providing the best new technology products and services across a broad array of industries,” says Ken Wasch, president of SIIA, in a media release. “In addition, its winners are a prolific testament to the power of technology to deliver innovative solutions to businesses and consumers.”
“Educators value SMART Notebook software as an essential teaching tool in the classroom,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART’s CEO. “This award supports the assessment of millions of SMART Notebook users around the world and makes us proud to deliver a product that helps teachers improve learning outcomes for students around the world.”
