Allows Navisworks users to use SMART’s interactive displays as an on-site collaboration tool
WASHINGTON, DC --- May 16, 2012 --- IDS Engineering and SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SMT) (TSX: SMA) today announced the release of the idsDesignTOUCH™ Autodesk® Navisworks® Manage plug-in for SMART Board®. The plug-in gives Autodesk Navisworks Manage users the ability to control and edit Navisworks files directly on SMART’s interactive displays, which architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) firms are increasingly using to facilitate communication and problem solving during coordination reviews. SMART will unveil the plug-in at booth 2314 at the American Institute of Architects National Convention and Design Exposition, May 17–19, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.
Autodesk Navisworks Manage integrates data from multiple sources to facilitate whole project review and coordination and to simulate construction. The software, a leading Building Information Modeling (BIM) review tool, is used in conjunction with SMART’s interactive displays to show design clashes and identify the preferred corrective action. Such reviews are critical for catching design deficiencies that may be prohibitively expensive to rectify later in the construction schedule. The idsDesignTOUCH Autodesk Navisworks Manage plug-in for SMART Board creates better integration between Navisworks Manage and SMART’s interactive displays, enabling improved coordination between AEC project teams.
