SMART subsidiary confirms touch screens are optimized for new operating system
Calgary, AB – October 9, 2012 --- SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SMT) (TSX: SMA), a leading provider in collaborative solutions, announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary, NextWindow, has passed the requirements for Windows 8 Certification for the NextWindow DesktopTouch 6S optical touch product. The DesktopTouch 6S is innovative new technology that meets all requirements for supporting the Microsoft® Windows® 8 touch-enabled operating system. With six cameras delivering consistent touch response across the entire display, users experience enhanced interaction on PCs and monitors. The DesktopTouch 6S is available in screen sizes ranging from 15" to 30" (38 to 76 cm).
NextWindow’s attention to price, performance and reliability has resulted in strong working relationships with major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs). Its screens are integrated into all-in-one PCs and monitors produced by leading OEMs including Dell, Sony, Toshiba, Samsung and NEC. NextWindow also develops large-format touch screens up to 120” (305 cm).
