Tenth largest U.S. school district to equip classrooms with SMART products
ARLINGTON, VA --- February 16, 2012 --- SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SMT) (TSX: SMA), a leading provider of collaboration solutions, announces that Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) in Florida has standardized on SMART products. The OCPS board has approved expenditures up to $3.6-million over the next three years for product, licensing, training, installation and services for SMART products. Previously, approximately 2,500 OCPS classrooms were equipped with interactive whiteboards from various companies, including SMART. After electing to standardize on a single company’s products and following an extensive evaluation process that considered offerings and capabilities from a number of companies, OCPS chose SMART, in part due to the features and functionality of SMART Notebook™ collaborative learning software. The implementation of SMART Board® interactive whiteboards and other SMART products is currently underway.
Orange County Public Schools, located in Orlando, Florida, is the tenth largest U.S. public school district with more than 181,000 students and 8,000 classrooms. Classrooms will be equipped with SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboards and may also receive SMART Response™ interactive response systems, SMART Document Cameras™ and SMART Slate™ wireless slates. With this standardization, 22 of the 25 largest U.S. public school districts now have classrooms equipped with SMART Board interactive whiteboards, with seven having standardized on SMART.
