SMART Announces New Vice President People Services

Pam Ramotowski brings experience and expertise to executive role focused on people

CALGARY, Alberta --- March 14, 2012 --SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:SMT) (TSX:SMA), a leading provider of collaboration solutions, today announced the appointment of Pam Ramotowski as vice president, people services. Ramotowski assumes overall responsibility for all people strategies and practices at SMART, including recruitment and retention, learning and development, compensation and benefits, organizational effectiveness and employee relations. She is based at SMART’s headquarters in Calgary, Canada, and reports to Drew Fitch, Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer.

Ramotowski brings 14 years’ experience in human resources management to SMART. Her appointment is an internal advancement, with her most recent role being director, total compensation and employee relations. Prior to SMART, she was director of human resources with Ensign Energy Services Inc., where she designed and implemented people strategies, supporting policies and programs for more than 8,000 staff. Prior to Ensign, Ramotowski held a number of senior positions at prominent energy, geophysical and agricultural companies. She holds a bachelor of management degree, master of business administration degree and the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation.
