Over 2,200 classrooms equipped with SMART Board® interactive whiteboards
CALGARY, Alberta --- March 13, 2012 --- SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SMT) (TSX: SMA), a leading provider of collaboration solutions, announces that two school districts in China have standardized on SMART Board interactive whiteboards. The Xinghua district has equipped 1,494 classrooms with SMART Board 480 interactive whiteboards, and the Luoyang district has equipped 880 classrooms with SMART Board 680V interactive whiteboards. Both districts cited SMART’s reputation for high quality and its country-specific learning materials as reasons for standardizing on the company’s products. Learning materials are available to the district teachers through SMART Notebook™ collaborative learning software, included with the hardware purchases, and the SMART Exchange™ website (exchange.smarttech.com), an online community providing over 51,000 learning resources and lesson activities.
The Xinghua Education Bureau administers approximately 74,500 primary and junior high school students. The Luoyang Municipal Education Technology Center administers approximately 44,000 students also enrolled in primary and junior high schools. With the support of authorized SMART distributor Beijing Daheng Innovative Technology Co Ltd., nearly every classroom in each district is now equipped with a SMART Board interactive whiteboard.
