SMART Exemplary Educator application process

SMART SEE banner selectionThe North American SMART Exemplary Educator program is open to K–12 teachers, technology coordinators and administrators in the United States and Canada who are committed to developing engaging content and sharing their expertise with other educators.

To become a SMART Exemplary Educator, you must

  • Use SMART products in innovative ways to improve student learning outcomes
  • Complete an application that highlights your commitment to developing effective educational practices and sharing them with other educators
  • Provide a letter of reference from a school administrator
  • Demonstrate a significant history of SMART-related professional development

NOTE: There is no longer a video component to this application.

These criteria are the minimum requirements that must be met for your SMART Exemplary Educator application to be considered. Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee acceptance into the program, as admission is highly competitive. In 2012, we will be accepting up to 150 new members.

Why become a SMART Exemplary Educator?

The SMART Exemplary Educator program recognizes educators who are leading the way in using SMART products to engage students and improve learning outcomes. Members of the SMART Exemplary Educator program are rewarded with many benefits, including the following:

  • A certificate recognizing their designation
  • An opportunity to participate in a SMART training event free of charge
  • A SMART Exemplary Educator laptop computer bag
  • Promotional items to support professional development opportunities
  • SMART software offerings, which may include one or more of the following:
  • SMART Notebook SE (Student Edition) software
  • SMART Notebook Math Tools software
  • SMART Response VE interactive response system
  • SMART Classroom Suite software
  • SMART Ideas software

SMART Exemplary Educators can also choose pathways that guide their experience in the program. Each year, SMART offers opportunities and resources in the areas of research, content creation, peer education, education advocacy, and market and product advisory.

Throughout the school year, SMART Exemplary Educators are able to share best practices, collaborate with peers, create content, provide feedback on SMART's existing and future products and participate in programs, workshops and events sponsored by SMART.

SMART Exemplary Educators also have access to an online community where members around the world can meet, share resources and learn about exciting opportunities that are exclusive to the SMART Exemplary Educator program.
