The SCEA certification equips you to effectively assess the technological needs of your school or district. You will receive tools to help you evaluate your interactive classroom technology implementation, and you’ll gain insight on how to help create a technology-enabled learning environment.

What to expect

In the SCEA program, you’ll learn:

  • How to evaluate teaching objectives and considerations as they relate to interactive classroom technology
  • How to improve the use of interactive classroom technology in your school, and how to help your teachers make the most of technology in their teaching
  • The basics of each SMART product, and how teachers can use them effectively in the classroom
  • How to use SMART products effectively in your day-to-day professional administrative functions

Program contents

To complete the SCEA program, participants must complete the following self-paced, basic product use courses:

  • Introduction to SMART Classroom Suite Interactive Learning Software
  • Introduction to SMART Response Interactive Response System
  • Introduction to Table Interactive Learning Center
  • Introduction to SMART Notebook Collaborative Learning Software and the SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard

After completing the product use courses, participants must complete the following e-learning courses:

  • Assessing Best Practices for Lesson Development
  • The SMART Administrator
  • Interactive Classroom Technology Solutions
  • Interactivity in the Classroom

Participants must also complete the following teaching-centered, e-learning courses:

  • SCEA: Integrating your Favorite Websites into your Teaching
  • SCEA: Using Diagnostic Assessments to Improve your Teaching
  • SCEA: Using Technology to Increase your Teaching Efficiency
  • SCEA: Using Collaborative Activities to Guide Independent Work
  • SCEA: Enhancing Student-Centered Instruction
  • SCEA: Collecting, Organizing and Presenting Related Files

To achieve certification, participants must also participate in the SMART Certified Education Administrator community (located on the SMART Learning Space under my Communities), and provide at least one original comment, and reply to at least two threads.

The SMART Certified Education Administration program is intended for:

  • School and district education administrators, and technology administrators
  • New and experienced users of SMART Notebook software and the SMART Board interactive whiteboard
