Touch Recognition
Write with a pen, erase with your palm and move objects with your finger without having to access additional tools, buttons or on-screen menus. With Touch Recognition, the board switches between touch modes automatically.
Write and save notes
Write notes in digital ink over any document, application or website on the interactive whiteboard and save it as a screenshot in a PDF or PPT file. Your work can be captured easily and e-mailed directly to meeting participants. You can also write and save notes directly into applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and AutoCAD.
Pen Tray
Pick up a pen or the eraser and the Pen Tray automatically detects which tool you’ve selected. Buttons on the Pen Tray activate the On-Screen Keyboard, right-click and help functions.
SMART Meeting Pro software
The SMART Board 685ix interactive whiteboard system comes with SMART Meeting Pro software, which provides advanced whiteboarding and data capture capabilities and an intuitive, easy-to-use interface.

With the 685ix, your computer, projector and SMART Board interactive whiteboard are all connected, so you can turn the entire system on and off quickly with the push of a single button - everything powers up in 60 seconds.
Front-of-room centralized control
Switch between all your audiovisual devices directly from the extended control panel. The panel provides centralized control of your meeting room technology, including DVD players, digital cameras, document cameras and VCRs. You can move from a website to a video documentary to a review question, quickly and seamlessly. The extended control panel also has a dual-USB port that enables you to connect 2 computers to the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and easily switch between them as required.
Widescreen interactive whiteboard
Access 20% more workspace than a standard interactive whiteboard system with the 685ix. The system has an 87" (221 cm) interactive whiteboard and an ultra-short-throw projector that offers a 16:10 aspect ratio and native WXGA (1,280 x 800) widescreen resolution.
Virtually shadow and glare free
Compared to longer-throw projectors that are mounted on ceilings or walls, the 685ix system's ultra-short-throw projector creates virtually no shadows or glare. This makes it easier to see images on the interactive whiteboard and increases productivity by reducing unwanted distractions.

Simple installation

Easy connectivity
Connect your dedicated meeting room computer to the 685ix using the system’s wire management bundle, which features integrated VGA, USB and 3.5 mm audio. By using the wire management bundle, you can easily connect a meeting room computer, use the interactive whiteboard and then disconnect if required.

Durable surface
The 685ix's resilient, hard-coated, polyester front sheet is secured over a robust aluminum composite backboard. With an incredibly low return merchandise authorization (RMA) rate of less than 0.01%, SMART Board interactive whiteboards may be the toughest interactive whiteboards on the market.
