Issue
The pen tray lights flash in sequence and you can’t write with pen tray pens on the interactive screen.
Cause
Two situations can cause this issue:
Solution
Your SMART Board 600 series interactive whiteboard includes a 16 1/2’ (5 m) SMART USB A/B cable (Part No. 93-00507-00). If you extend this cable, check your interactive whiteboard’s voltage reading to verify that your interactive whiteboard is works and has enough power.
To check your interactive whiteboard’s voltage reading
-
Press the Control Panel icon in the SMART Board software Start Center.
The SMART Board software control panel appears.
-
Press About Software and Product Support.
-
Press Diagnostics.
The SMART Board Diagnostics window appears.
-
Select Report > Local > View.
The System Summary Log window appears.
-
Find the line in the report that states “USB Power”. A sufficient voltage range for this report is between 4.06V and 5.60V.
If you’re using USB extension cables, remove them, and then connect the computer to the interactive whiteboard using one standard USB cable only. If this resolves the issue, connect one USB extension cable at a time, verifying the voltage reading each time.
