Disabling the USB A receptacle on your SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboard
||SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboard systems|
In some situations, you may need to disable the USB A receptacle on your SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboard’s extended control panel (ECP). Disabling the USB A receptacle prevents users from using files from or saving files to USB drives using this receptacle. The other Mini-USB B receptacles must remain active because they're required for the guest laptop and room computer connections to function. Follow the procedure below to disable this feature.
The following steps assume that the ECP wasn’t removed from the interactive whiteboard.
To disable the USB A receptacle
Locate the knock-out cover on the bottom of the ECP.
Remove the knock-out cover.
Locate the jumper labeled JP1 that is underneath the knock-out cover.
Use a pair of needle-nose pliers to slide the jumper sideways and then pull it out of the ECP.
Do not discard the jumper as it will be required if there is a need to re-enable the USB A receptacle.
The USB A receptacle is disabled.
