The ready light on your SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboard is flashing green and you have no touch control
SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboards, wireless connection for SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboards, CAT 5 USB 1.1 extender for SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboards
The ready light on your interactive whiteboard is flashing green and you have no touch control when your interactive whiteboard is connected to a CAT 5 USB 1.1 extender or a wireless connection.
Disconnecting and connecting the USB connector on the computer doesn’t resolve the issue and neither does turning the power on and off using the pen tray power button. When you connect the computer to your interactive whiteboard using the standard USB cable connection, the symptoms don’t occur.
Update SMART Product Drivers, run SMART Firmware Updater, and then ensure SMART Board Service is started on the computer that’s connected to your interactive whiteboard.
To update SMART Product Drivers
Start any SMART software product, for instance SMART Notebook collaborative learning software, and select Help > Check for Updates and Activation.
SMART Product Update starts and displays available updates for all your installed SMART software.
If a newer version of SMART Product Drivers is available, click Update and follow any on-screen instructions.
To run SMART Firmware Updater
If you’re using a CAT 5 USB 1.1 extender, connect it to your interactive whiteboard.
If you have a Windows computer, go to C:\Program Files\SMART Technologies, double-click SMARTFirmwareUpdater.exe and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you have a Mac computer, in Finder, select HD> Applications > SMART Product Drivers > Additional Tools > SMARTFirmwareUpdater.app and follow the on-screen instructions.
To ensure SMART Board Service is started
If you have a Windows computer, select Start > All Programs > SMART Technologies > SMART Tools > Product Drivers Control Panel.
If you have a Mac computer, in Finder, select HD > Applications > SMART Product Drivers.
The SMART Control Panel opens.
Click About Software and Product Support, click Tools, and then click Diagnostics.
SMART Board Diagnostics starts.
If the Status field says “SMART Board Service is not running”, select Service > Start.
If you’ve performed the procedures above and the issue persists, reset your interactive whiteboard.
To reset your interactive whiteboard
Press the Reset button on the bottom of the pen tray briefly (less than three seconds).
All the pen tray indicator lights flash sequentially twice and the interactive whiteboard resets.
If you accidentally press the Reset button for longer than three seconds, the interactive whiteboard goes into a service mode and the pen tray light flashes amber. To stop service mode, disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet, and then connect it again.
The Reset button is recessed so that you can’t press it accidentally. Use a long, narrow object, such as a ball-point pen, to press this button.
