Overview

This document explains how many SMART Response or Senteo clickers you can use in an assessment session and how to determine that amount.

The number of clickers supported for an assessment depends on several factors:

• Your computer's specifications

• The receiver model and numbers of clickers connected

• Interference from other devices

• The number of questions in an assessment

Details

The recommended system requirements for SMART Response 2012 software are as follows:

• Windows computer with a Pentium 4 or later processor with 2 GB or more of RAM.
• MAC computer with a Pentium 4 or later processor with 2 GB or more of RAM.

Note

Computers with lower system specifications might not support as many clickers.

When increasing the number of clickers used for an assessment you must also increase the number of receivers accordingly. See below for the number of clickers each receiver supports.

Receiver Number of clickers supported
03-00099
 Senteo reciever 60
Receiver Number of clickers supported
03-00181
 Response XE 100

Notes

  • You can add additional receivers to support more SMART Response clickers.

  • Connecting more than the specified number of clickers can result in unexpected behavior.

  • If you have multiple receivers connected to your computer, students see multiple class names that are numbered to identify each receiver. For example, Math (1 and Math (2. Assign an equal number of students to each class to ensure optimum performance.

Interference from other devices such as 2.4 GHz routers, cordless phones and microwaves can reduce performance of your SMART Response or Senteo system. Minimizing interference, signal refractions and removing objects that block receivers signals enables you to connect more clickers at once.

The number of clickers that can participate in an assessment session decrease as the of questions in the assignment increase. The following are the recommended maximum number of clickers that can be used based on the number of questions in an assessment.

Number of questions Number of clickers
1 500
10 500
