SMART Launches New Inclusion Solution and Global Research to Support Neurodiverse Learners

It is estimated that 15 to 20% of the world’s population is neurodiverse, including students on the autism spectrum, and individuals with ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia. Traditional classroom settings often fail to accommodate the unique needs of neurodiverse students, contributing to significant gaps in academic achievement and social inclusion.

To address this, SMART is sponsoring research with the University of Melbourne, focusing on the experiences of students with autism and ADHD. This study aims to show how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles can break down barriers for neurodivergent students, with their voices guiding our innovations.

We are excited to announce the launch of our Inclusive Classroom Bundle at ISTE 2024. This comprehensive EdTech solution is designed to support all learners and includes:

  • SMART Board® RX Series: An advanced interactive display with multi-colored styluses, embedded experience, device integration, and a 7-year SMART Assure Warranty.
  • Customizable Tool Explorer Stamps: Tailorable stamps for words, images, AAC symbols, and more, enhancing interactive and immersive learning.
  • Lumio Spark Plan Subscription: A web-based tool offering multimodal learning experiences.
  • Optional Height Adjustable Stand: Ensures interactive learning at the student’s level with robust safety and stability.

These tools allow students to engage in learning activities beyond spoken or written language, offering diverse methods for interaction and participation.

Join us at ISTE 2024 to explore the Inclusive Classroom Bundle, experience the RX Series Interactive Display, and discover Lumio software. Our in-booth session with University of Melbourne researchers on June 24th will provide insights from neurodivergent students and highlight effective classroom technologies.
