How to visualize complex relationships
Measurement technology for complex production processes is a daily occurrence for the employees of VEGA. And, they don't want to do that without SMART boards in their meeting rooms.
The global specialist for level and pressure sensors with headquarters in the Black Forest has around 1,800 employees at 30 locations worldwide. From Australia and Asia to America, many meeting rooms are now equipped with SMART - mainly because the employees enjoy working with it so much and ask for it by name.
"It all started with our managing director having a SMART Board installed in his meeting room," Julian Springmann recalls. At VEGA, Springmann is responsible for the IT helpdesk and the technical equipment of the meeting rooms. "So it took its course. The colleagues saw it and wanted it too. The first conference room was soon equipped with SMART products. Because everyone wanted to work with the SMART Board, the room itself was soon overbooked constantly, according to Springmann. Many of the company's meeting rooms around the world were quickly equipped with SMART Displays.
VEGA is the market leader regarding level measurement with radar and has been developing solutions for demanding measuring tasks in the industry for over 60 years. "Wherever there is something to be measured - from diesel tanks to chocolate containers - VEGA has the right technology," explains Springmann. It is all the more important in daily teamwork to visualize complex relationships and to share information quickly and clearly. Initially, the SMART Board was used to replace the flipchart, but the employees soon discovered how much more is possible with the boards.
Flexible collaboration regardless of location
"It feels great to work on the SMART Board, to write on it and to draw on it feels great. You get direct feedback and can work together across the board. I can start with a topic in one room and continue working on the same thing in another room the next day. Everything is now safely stored. That is the advantage when a uniform solution is available everywhere," says Springmann.
At VEGA, the SMART boards are used in combination with SMART Meeting Pro for meetings, product training, brainstorming, or process planning. The flipcharts have now been completely abolished.
Every team member is a part of it
"Now there are only SMART boards. They are mainly used for brainstorming in teams because the application is so intuitive and easy. It's easy to write notes in files and programs. This is useful for visualizing ideas and sharing them with colleagues who are not in the room or at the location," Springmann explains.
With the SMART Board, even larger constructs, processes and procedures can be better represented and sent as PDF using the export function. Each team member has the information at their fingertip and they can continue to work on it.
“You have the log function and documentation practically at the push of a button. That makes a lot of things easier and increases the efficiency of the collaboration immensely. We did not find the same range of functions with other products.”
SMART Solution
VEGA has been using SMART Boards & Displays and SMART Meeting Pro since 2013. SMART Podium is also used in larger meeting rooms. Flexible SMART displays on mobile traveling stands are available for training.
