Harwes Farm CIC, a 57-acre community farm nestled in the heart of Pendle, Lancashire, is a not-for-profit haven for education, health, and well-being. Behind its stunning natural beauty lies a mission deeply aligned with sustainable living—making nature accessible to all for learning and personal growth. Now, thanks to its first corporate patron, SMART Technologies, this mission has gained even more momentum.
SMART Technologies, a global leader in educational technology with a strong commitment to sustainability, and sustainable living, is proud to become the inaugural Harwes Farm Patron. This partnership represents a natural extension of SMART’s broader vision to foster environmentally conscious learning environments and sustainable practices.
At SMART, sustainability isn’t a goal—it’s a responsibility, and this new partnership with Harwes Farm is another step toward making a lasting impact on both education and the environment. Learn more about SMART’s environmental mission here:
By becoming a patron, SMART is directly contributing to Harwes Farm’s essential work, including programs for children at risk of exclusion from school, community health projects, and maintaining the farm’s animals and grounds. These efforts ensure the farm remains a welcoming and vibrant place for everyone.
Gill Taylor, Founder and Director of Harwes Farm CIC, expressed her gratitude: “We are over the moon to have SMART Technologies as our very first patron. Their support will help us create a stimulating environment for children struggling in traditional school settings. Thanks to Angela and the team for believing in our mission!”
This isn’t the first time SMART has visited the farm. Earlier in the year, SMART attended YesFEST, where the focus was on empowering young people to become eco-conscious innovators. Just as SMART inspires students through interactive, green technology solutions, it is now helping inspire future eco-warriors right here at Harwes Farm.
SMART and other companies in Colne’s Community Farm are invited to engage in team-building activities, volunteering days, and conservation projects. Whether it’s dry stone walling, animal care, or allotment management, employees can immerse themselves in hands-on projects that blend environmental stewardship with personal and professional growth.
